Abyssal Plain, 2012

1-Channel Video, Color, 10’08
Silk Photo Print, 180 x 240 cm

Abyssal Plain is an installation that shows a slow motion underwater video. Running back and forth, black dogs create a visual rhythm of appearance and disappearance. A blue line in the distance becomes the vanishing point in the image from which the dogs, shown only from the neck down, seems to appear. Behind the projection screen, which is positioned in a corner, a silk print is mounted on the wall. The image shows a girl bending over, her ponytail between her legs. The still image, taken from a series of movements based on the idea of jumping, dipping or diving is combined with the unchoreographed, circular movement of the dogs running under water.
